Jennifer Ciavirella Schmidberger - Director of Charter School for Arts
Based in Yorktown Heights, New York, Jennifer Ciavirella Schmidberger joined the Bronx Charter School for Arts as the director of student support services and curriculum and instruction in 2018. She originally began her career in education in 1997, as a sixth grade teacher at Sacred Heart Elementary School in the Bronx. She went on to found three Imagine Schools charter schools in Maryland and New York. Jennifer Ciavirella Schmidberger gained additional experience as a principal at St. Patrick’s School in Bedford and St. Raymond Elementary School.
Jennifer Schmidberger’s professional strengths include administration and professional coaching. She excels at managing services for students with special needs, ranging from learning disabilities to new english learners. She has pursued extensive professional training to further refine her skills, including Special Education classes at Manhattanville College, Workshops with the NYC Charter School Collaborative, and the Charter Schools: Practice for High Performance program at the Harvard Graduate School of Education.
Ms. Schmidberger holds a Master of Science in Education Administration from the University at Albany, as well as Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. She played softball and basketball at the University, and continues to lead an active lifestyle. She teaches eight Zumba classes per week and is a volunteer coach for her daughter’s basketball team.
